Excision pressure wound from the below-knee amputation stump with complex closure
Patient presents for excision of a pressure wound from the below-knee amputation (BKA) stump. Electrocautery was used to excise the wound and again to undermine the wound edges. The skin in the area of the stump was lax and could be pulled over the stump. De-epithelialized skin was tacked down and drain placed. The central portion of the skin, the deep and the superficial dermis were closed. Standing cones medially and laterally were excised and the areas of the deep and superficial dermis were closed. A dressing was applied to the skin and an Ace wrap was put in place. What are the appropriate codes for the excision of the pressure wound and the skin advancement with complex closure?
