Avian Influenza
Effective October 1, 2007, code 488 has been created to identify influenza due to identified avian influenza virus.
Avian influenza is an infection caused by avian (bird) influenza (flu) viruses. Usually, “avian influenza virus†refers to influenza A viruses found chiefly in birds. The risk to humans is generally low because the viruses do not usually infect humans.
