Revision of Thoratec II® Heartmate Driveline
A patient has been on a Thoratec Heartmate II® left ventricular assist device for about 2 ½ years. He has had recurrent driveline infections. He is now admitted to the hospital and taken to the operating room for a driveline revision. The provider listed the procedure as revision and repositioning of percutaneous driveline. Provider documentation indicates that an incision was made, and skin and subcutaneous tissue were removed down to the abdominal wall fascia. The driveline was cleaned. The velor of the driveline was removed. A trough was made in the rectus abdominis muscle to place the newly exposed driveline. The fascia was closed, the driveline was exited below the original site and the wound was closed. What is the correct procedure code?
