Urinary Obstruction

Effective October 1, 2005, code 599.60, Urinary obstruction, unspecified, and 599.69, Urinary obstruction, not elsewhere classified, have been created to uniquely identify unspecified and other specified urinary obstruction. Code 599.69 is now assigned to indicate that a patient has urinary obstruction due to an underlying cause for which there is no combination code. Urinary obstruction is usually caused by fibrosis due to chronic urinary tract infections or injury, nephrolithiasis, urethral stricture, tumor, malignancy or benign prostatic hyperplasia.
