Noridian Administrative Services, LLC has posted the following revised local coverage determination (LCD) with the effective date of December 1, 2007 for the states of Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington:
· Nerve Blockade: Somatic, Selective Nerve Root and Epidural
This LCD was simplified by creating one list of payable ICD-9 CM codes which describes/directly indicates pain. (Prior versions required two ICD-9 CM codes for payment: a code for an underlying condition that caused pain and a code that describes/directly indicated pain.) The narrative of "Indications and Limitations of Coverage and/or Medical Necessity" was updated.
