2015 Guidelines, Diagnosis Pregnancy and Antepartum

April 16, 2015

Services provided to diagnose pregnancy are to be reported separately, and not considered a part of antepartum care given to the patient. Be sure to report the E/M visits separately as of the 2015 revised guidelines.

The services normally provided in uncomplicated maternity cases include antepartum care, delivery, as well as postpartum care. For a preventative visit or problem orientated be sure to report using the appropriate E/M service codes.
