When the word tomosynthesis is not mentioned under the technique section but is mentioned under the views obtained section of the interpretive report, is that sufficient documentation to report the appropriate CPT code for tomosynthesis? The procedure report states Imaging was performed with 2D digital mammography and that computer-aided detection R2 version 9.3 was used for 2D digital images. Bilateral craniocaudal and bilateral mediolateral oblique images were obtained with tomosynthesis. The patients digital mammographic images were analyzed using computer-aided detection technology. The breasts are heterogeneously dense, and there are a few oval masses with circumscribed margins in the left breast upper region at the anterior/middle depth that correlate with cyst clusters noted on the ultrasound.
