7th Character Default for Gustilo-Anderson Classification
When a patient is seen for a subsequent encounter for an open fracture, and there is no known information regarding the original Gustilo-Anderson classification, what is the appropriate 7th character? For example, under category S52-, Fracture of forearm, the Tabular List defaults “initial encounter for open fracture NOS” to the 7th character “B” initial encounter for open fracture type I or II. Can the same default for type I or II be used for subsequent encounters?
