Intermittent (Nocturnal) Ventilation
A patient has consistently been on intermittent ventilation, including nocturnal for the last two years. During the current admission, the physician decides to try to wean from nocturnal ventilation. How are the number of hours calculated for a patient being weaned from nocturnal ventilaton? Is it appropriate to only include the actual hours that the patient is on the ventilator or is the entire weaning period included?
