Morbid obesity, or clinically severe obesity, is defined as being 100 lbs over ideal weight, or more having a body mass index > (35-40 kg/m2). An arbitrary definition of superobesity corresponds to twice the minimum weight criterion used to define morbid obesity or being 200 lbs or over ideal weight.
