March 2015 page 10c Category III Codes Question: A patient is admitted to the operating room for a proctoplasty and hemorrhoidal artery ligation with ultrasound guidance. According to the operative report, an anoscope was utilized and the artery was ligated with a defect left to allow the performance of the proctoplasty. A proctoscopy was performed using the previously thrown suture and throwing it to the level of the dentate line and then tying this back to the previously placed suture.
