To repair the perforation the physician performs a tympanoplasty type procedure and uses a small intestinal submucosa (SIS) Biodesign® graft that was positioned medial to the perforation with the trailing tail medial to the tympanomeatal flap within the canal. The middle ear space was packed to allow for medial support, and the tympanomeatal flap was repositioned into its anatomic location.
