Answer: Water-deprivation testing is performed to ensure adequate dehydration and maximal stimulation of the antidiuretic hormone (ADH), which helps the kidneys manage the amount of water in the body. ADH testing (84588) is typically performed in patients with more chronic forms of diabetes insipidus (DI).
