Urodynamics is the study of the storage and flow of urine through the urinary tract and is useful in diagnosing disorders of urine storage and voiding functions. Urinary system function can be affected by disorders such as obstruction (eg, benign prostatic hypertrophy, strictures, altered pelvic anatomy [eg, pelvic floor hypermobility]) or neuromuscular disorders (eg, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries). Some of the symptoms that may accompany urinary system dysfunction are incontinence, frequency, nocturia, urgency, and inability to urinate.
