As of October 1, 2004, the code title for 291.3, was changed to Alcohol-induced psychotic disorder with hallucinations. Prior to October 1, 1996, alcohol withdrawal was coded to 291.8, Other specified alcoholic psychosis. Code 291.8 also included alcoholic anxiety and alcoholic mood. Effective October 1, 1996, code 291.81, Alcohol withdrawal, has been created to specifically separate alcohol withdrawal from other alcoholic withdrawal without delirium.
