Subcategory 780.0, Coma and stupor, has been modified to distinguish between transient alteration of consciousness and other forms of loss of consciousness. The symptoms of transient alteration of consciousness are staring spells or transient loss of awareness. The condition may be indicative of a migraine, epileptic seizures, transient ischemic attack, or a specific psychological syndrome.
