As of October 1, 2010, the “excludes note” under code 799.82, which excluded coding signs and symptoms associated with a confirmed diagnosis of apparent life-threatening event in infant (ALTE) has been deleted. Code 799.82, Apparent life-threatening event in infant, should be assigned as an additional code if the event is documented in the medical record.
