Arthritisis a common term for more than 100 rheumatic diseases. It affects one in seven Americans and is the most prevalent chronic disease in people over age 45. Arthritis can attack the joints, muscles, connective tissues, skin and organs. The manifestations are pain, inflammation, swelling, stiffness and mobility problems involving one or more joints.
