Dates of service are important in accurately billing/reporting the services provided. This is taking on more emphasis as CMS further defines OPPS and billing rules and mines the claims data. For example, it is important, when drug administration is billed, that the drugs be billed on the same date of service. Some claims edit software will assist with monitoring these code pairs, but all are encouraged to review their processes to assure that the dates of service will match for the drugs, solutions and administration charges billed.
