Biventricular Defibrillator Lead Fracture

A patient underwent implantation of a pacemaker years ago. Subsequently, it was upgraded to a biventricular defibrillator system. The patient developed a lead fracture in the rate-sensing portion of the high voltage lead, causing inappropriate defibrillator shocks. For this reason, the patient was referred for surgery. Provider documentation indicates implantation of new biventricular cardiac defibrillator generator and reconnection of chronic right ventricular lead, from the previous pacemaker. Would the connecting of the abandoned chronic right ventricular lead (from the previous pacemaker) to the new defibrillator be considered a revision of the chronic lead? ...
