Catheter Placement for Treatment of Congestive Heart Failure

A patient with congestive heart failure (CHF) and diuretic resistance underwent a new procedure to treat CHF, which is currently in clinical trials. During the procedure, a sheath was advanced via the left internal jugular vein using ultrasound guidance and micropuncture technique and a drainage catheter was placed into the left innominate vein to drain lymph fluid. The current ICD-10-PCS does not include codes for drainage of lymphatic fluid or bypass of lymphatic fluid to the blood stream.
