Cervical Dysplasia

Effective October 1, 2004, code 622.1 has been expanded to allow the reporting of dysplasia of cervix (622.10), mild dysplasia of cervix [CIN I] (622.11), and moderate dysplasia of cervix [CIN II] (622.12). These changes were made to reflect the most recent version of the Bethesda system, which is used to report abnormal Pap smear results. Cervical dysplasia is a term used to describe the appearance of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix. Cervical dysplasia is also called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and can range from mild (CIN I), to moderate (CIN II)...
