Changes in the reporting of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) CPT codes

Effective Jan. 1, 2014, HCPCS G codes G0173, G0251, G0339, and G0340 will no longer be reported for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment delivery procedures by hospital outpatient facilities. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) stated in the recently released 2014 Final Rule that SRS techniques and equipment have evolved and expanded over the years and that it is no longer necessary to distinguish robotic versus non-robotic linac-based SRS through the HCPCS G-codes. Therefore, these HCPCS G codes will be replaced with the SRS CPT codes, which would more accurately capture the distinctions between the various SRS procedure...
