Chemoembolization

In Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Fourth Quarter 2007, in discussion of chemoembolization, it is stated that “it would not be appropriate to separately report the administration of the chemotherapeutic drug since it is considered integral to the chemoembolization.” In the 2014 CPT codebook, the introductory section of the new embolization codes (37241–37244), it instructs to report code 96420 separately when chemotherapy is given as part of an embolization procedure. Will you be revising your recommendation to not report code 96420 separately based on the new instructions published in the CPT codebook? ...
