Clarification: Administration of Depo-Medrol

The Central Office for HCPCS has received several requests for clarification regarding the reporting of Depo-Medrol as published in AHA’s Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Fourth Quarter 2018 pages 5-6. The guidance for the reporting of drugs was that the unit of drug should be reported based on the way the drug is administered to the patient, not on the way it is packaged, stored or stocked, and that the strength and unit dose are one and the same.
