Decubitus Ulcer

Effective October 1, 2004, code 707.0, Decubitus ulcer, has been expanded to separately identify different sites on the body where decubiti may develop. Prior to this change, one code was assigned for decubitus ulcer despite the location. Patients can develop more than one ulcer at various sites with different stages of severity. Decubitus ulcers, also known as pressure sores and bedsores, most often occur in patients with diminished or absent sensation or who are debilitated, emaciated, paralyzed or bedridden.
