Drug-Coated Balloon Angioplasty in Peripheral Vessels

Effective October 1, 2015, new ICD-10-PCS codes have been created to identify the use of drug-coated balloons in peripheral angioplasty in order to distinguish this new technology from traditional angioplasty. The use of drug-coated balloons in angioplasty is now identified by the qualifier value “1 Drug-Coated Balloon.” This new qualifier value has been added to table 047 Dilation of Lower Arteries, and is available for all vessels in the table.
