Early Satiety

Effective October 1, 2003, code 780.94, Early Satiety, has been created to uniquely identify this symptom. Early satiety refers to having the sensation of abdominal fullness prematurely after or during meals. It can occur with many conditions including delayed stomach emptying, gastric outlet obstruction, decreased stomach distensibility, irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia, brain tumor or hormonal problems. It is important to distinguish early satiety from anorexia. With anorexia, the patient may choose not to eat or has no appetite. With early satiety, the patient is hungry, wants to eat, but feels full quickly when he or she eats. 780...
