Encounter for Pap Smear

Effective October 1, 2004, code V72.3, Gynecological examination, has been expanded to identify patients who return for repeat visits after abnormal pap smears. The standard protocol for patients with an abnormal pap smear is to carry out a repeat test several months later. If the repeat pap test is normal, two more are done at close intervals to confirm the normal result.
