Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial ablation is the newest technique available to control menorrhagia and cramping in women unresponsive to hormonal treatment. Endometrial ablation is an alternative to hysterectomy. It is performed via a scope inserted in the uterus. The scope is equipped with either a roller ball or a U-shaped wire on the end. The roller ball resembles a paint roller that applies a high frequency electrical current. The roller ball's cylinder provides even heat distribution cauterizing the tissue and preventing bleeding.
