Endoscopic excision of tongue base mass

A patient presented with a base of the tongue mass. The mass was diagnosed as ectopic thyroid tissue and the decision was made to resect the mass endoscopically via da Vinci robotic-assisted lingual thyroidectomy. The instruments of the da Vinci system were docked within the oral cavity. Cautery was utilized to incise the lingual tonsil tissue anterior and lateral to the visualized midline tongue base. The robotic vessel sealer was unable to come around the edges of the mass, therefore, the mass was dissected with the use of bipolar and monopolar cautery.
