Erythromelalgia

Effective October 1, 2005, code 443.82, Erythromelalgia, has been created to uniquely identify erythromelalgia. Erythromelalgia is a rare disorder that is characterized by severe redness, increased skin temperature, and burning pain of the extremities. It occurs most often in the feet, toes, and hands, but may occur in the face, ears, knees and torso. Symptoms vary from person to person so the onset may be gradual or spontaneous with episodes of flare-ups lasting minutes or for several days.
