External Defibrillator Vest

This patient had an implantable cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) placed in 1988. In 2004, the ICD was relocated to the subpectoral location. The patient now presents with an ICD infection. The device and leads were removed at hospital A and the patient was transferred to hospital B for IV antibiotics. At hospital B, the patient was fitted with an automatic external defibrillator to protect her upon discharge from the facility. The physician documented that a “life vest external defibrillator” was fitted and patient given instructions and training completed. The ICD device will be reimplanted at a later date. Is there a specific ICD-9-CM code for the external defibrillator vest, or should code 99.62, Other electric countershock of heart, be assigned? ...
