With this final issue, as we transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS, we bid a fond farewell to Coding Clinic for ICD-9-CM after nearly 30 years of publishing coding advice. In its inaugural issue, back in May-June 1984, the publication was introduced with the goal to “provide coding advice, official coding decisions, and news related to the use of ICD-9-CM.” The American Hospital Association’s Central Office on ICD-9-CM is proud to uphold the mission of the original founders to “help everyone who is interested in and dedicated to improving the accuracy and uniformity of medical records.” We...
