HCPCS code C1879 deleted

The services captured under HCPCS code C1879, Tissue marker, implantable, were also described by HCPCS code A4648, Tissue marker, implantable, any type. Due to the general coding policy of utilizing permanent HCPCS codes rather than utilizing temporary HCPCS codes under the OPPS, HCPCS code C1879 was deleted June 30, 2013. Therefore, effective since July 1, 2013, only HCPCS code A4648 would be reported when using implantable tissue markers with any services provided in the OPPS. ...
