HCPCS code G0269

In third Quarter 2011 a question was published in Coding Clinic for HCPCS which addressed reporting the closure device HCPCS code G0269, Placement of occlusive device into either a venous or arterial access site, postsurgical or interventional procedure (i.e., angioseal plug, vascular plug), with cardiac catheterization procedures. Coding Clinic for HCPCS advised that it was “reportable.” The 2012 NCCI edits do not allow reporting of HCPCS code G0269 in conjunction with cardiac catheterization procedures. In addition, the 2012 CPT instructions state that the closure device is inherent and not separately reportable.
