HCPCS G codes for stereotactic radiosurgery

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has created new HCPCS G codes to more accurately capture the reporting of stereotactic radiosurgery. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is a noninvasive, very precise delivery of radiation to a brain tumor, sparing the surrounding normal tissue. SRS is also utilized for treatment of tumors of the neck and most recently has expanded to treating tumors of the spine, lung, pancreas, prostate, bone and liver.
