Note:As of October 1, 2005, the title for 585 was changed to Chronic Kidney Disease, and the code was expanded to the fourth-digit level. Effective October 1, 1992, an excludes note has been added to category 403, Hypertensive renal disease, to indicate that acute renal failure (584.5-584.9) and renal disease stated as not due to hypertension, are excluded from this category.
