Incompatibility Reaction Due to Blood Transfusion

Effective October 1, 2010, subcategories 999.6, ABO incompatibility reaction, 999.7, Rh incompatibility reaction, and 999.8, Other infusion and transfusion reaction, were revised and expanded to create unique codes to identify the different types of hemolytic transfusion reactions (HTR). These new code sets include both acute hemolytic transfusion reaction and delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction and will allow data capture of the various HTRs.
