Infusion of tPA into Pleural Cavity 12 Intestinal Obstruction due to Peritoneal Carcinomatosis
The patient had a Streptococcal empyema and received an infusion of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) via his chest tube into the pleural cavity to break up thickened pleural effusion in order for it to easily drain. In ICD-10-PCS, under the root operation “Introduction” of thrombolytic there is no body part value for pleural cavity. What is the appropriate code assignment for tPA infusion into the pleural cavity?
