Left to Right Common Carotid Artery Bypass

A 15-year-old male with history of tracheomalacia, status post aortopexy, underwent left to right common carotid artery bypass, for treatment of tracheal compression from his innominate artery. Segments of the common carotid arteries were dissected, bilaterally, with subsequent vessel loop placement. A segment of the right greater saphenous vein was harvested. The left common carotid artery was clamped, an arteriotomy was made and extended. The vein was placed in a reverse fashion from left to right bypass, and anastomosis was created. The vein was tunneled. The right common carotid artery was clamped, the venous conduit was spatulated, an arteriotomy was made in the right common carotid artery, and anastomosis was created in identical fashion.
