The Central Office on HCPCS has received several inquiries regarding the coding and reporting of injections and infusions. As previously stated in Coding Clinic for HCPCS, Fourth Quarter, page 4, intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous injections, infusions, or intravenous feedings require the skill of a licensed nurse or physician to be performed (or taught) safely and effectively.
