The International Agency for Research in Cancer (IARC) has recently identified myelodysplastic syndrome as a neoplastic condition. The National Cancer Institute has also concurred with this finding. Based upon this new information, myelodysplastic syndrome is now classified as neoplastic. Therefore, the correct code assignment is 238.7, Neoplasm of uncertain behavior of other lymphatic and hematopoietic tissues.
