New HCPCS code for repair of nasal stenosis

The new HCPCS code C9749, Repair of nasal vestibular lateral wall stenosis with implant(s), was created for the reporting of nasal stenosis repair with an implant. Note this procedure is performed under general anesthesia and is most often performed bilaterally. HCPCS code C9749 was effective for reporting on April 1, 2018, and the code describes an inherently bilateral procedure. In the event, a bilateral procedure could not be performed because of extenuating circumstances but the physician was able to complete a unilateral procedure, hospital outpatient departments are advised to append either modifier 73, Discontinued out-patient hospital/ambulatory surgery center (ASC)...
