Effective October 1, 2008, codes have been created in subcategory 760.6, Newborn affected by surgical procedures on mother and fetus, to identify newborns affected by amniocentesis and other procedures that are performed in utero, surgical procedures that affect newborns when performed on the mother during the current pregnancy, and newborns affected by other previous surgery performed on the mother but unrelated to the current pregnancy.
