Omentoplasty

The patient has gross tumor involvement of the presacral space due to rectal cancer. Following low anterior resection, the omentum was dissected from the transverse colon from right to left leaving the blood supply from the left side intact. The mobilized omentum was placed into the pelvis as an omentoplasty. This procedure appears to meet the definition of the root operation transfer because the blood supply was left intact but there is no option for transfer of the omentum.
