Recent device edit changes

Under the device-to procedure edits the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently added procedure code 64569, Revision or replacement of cranial nerve (eg, vagus nerve) neurostimulator electrode array, including connection to existing pulse generator, to the list of procedures that can be appropriately reported with device code C1778, Lead, neurostimulator. This addition became effective January 1, 2011. In addition, the procedure-to-device edits require that when certain procedural HCPCS codes are reported, the appropriate device code must also be reported.
