Relocation of Gastric Stimulator Device for Diabetic Gastroparesis

A 30-year old patient with severe gastroparesis secondary to diabetes mellitus Type I was admitted and underwent a laparoscopic repositioning of the gastric pacemaker because of chronic pain at the site of her gastric stimulating device. During the surgery, the lead pocket for the pacing unit was opened, the pacing box removed, and the leads disconnected. A second incision was made on the right lower quadrant and a new pacemaker pocket was created. The pacing unit was then reattached to the leads and placed into the new pocket and interrogated.
