Reporting medical devices with appropriate revenue codes

Hospitals should use the appropriate HCPCS code to bill implantable devices that have been granted pass-through status under the OPPS. Revenue codes, 0272, 0275, 0276, 0278, 0279, 0280, 0289, or 0624, should be utilized to bill devices eligible for pass-through payment, as designated by the payment status indicator "H". It is inappropriate for hospitals subject to OPPS to report implantable orthotic and prosthetic devices and implantable DME provided in the hospital outpatient setting with revenue codes 0274 or 0290.
