Reporting of the “PO” HCPCS modifier

The HCPCS modifier PO, Services, procedures and/or surgeries furnished at off-campus provider-based outpatient departments, is a new modifier created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). However, this modifier will not be required for reporting until January 1, 2016. Until that time, the reporting of modifier PO is optional for the calendar year (CY) 2015.
